Sedation Dentistry

I’m scared! I don’t have time! Dental work hurts!

If you avoid visits to the dentist because of fear, discomfort at long appointments, lack of time for multiple procedures, or because you don’t respond well to numbing or you gag easily, you need to experience 5280 Dental. Dr. Zimmermann is sensitive to his patients’ concerns. Every member of our team is trained to provide gentle, accommodating service with a priority on the unique needs of each patient.

25 million Americans avoid dental visits because of fear or anxiety (AGD)

Sedation dentistry has changed the way many people feel about dental visits. With safe, effective medications, Dr. Zimmermann will relieve your anxiety, discomfort, and fear. He can also perform many procedures in one or two appointments, rather than a long string of one-hour visits that would not fit into your busy schedule.

Medications for Comfort

Sedation Dentistry Can

  • Reduce Fear & Anxiety
  • Relieve Pain & Discomfort
  • Hasten Treatment Completion
  • Alleviate Gag Reflexes
  • Replace Local Anesthesia
  • Local Anesthesia – With a refined technique, Dr. Zimmermann provides precise injections of local anesthetic. His method is gentle and comfortable, so you can relax.
  • Nitrous Oxide – Also called laughing gas, nitrous oxide is inhaled through a facemask. The effects cause light sedation, just enough to eliminate stress and pain. When we stop administering nitrous oxide, patients can immediately return to daily activities.
  • Oral Sedation – A sedative, such as Halcion, taken by mouth just prior to a dental procedure, provides a little deeper form of relaxation for anxious patients. After the visit, you’ll feel drowsy and will need a driver to take you home, where you’ll rest for the remainder of the day.
  • Oral Conscious SedationDr. Zimmermann can combine nitrous oxide with an oral sedative to promote an even greater calming effect. You’ll remain alert enough to respond to our team’s instructions, but you may not remember the visit on the following day. Again, you’ll need a driver to escort you home.
  • IV Sedation – We work with a licensed anesthesiologist and oral surgeon to provide intravenous sedation to patients with significant dental phobia or physical discomfort. IV sedation is administered directly into the bloodstream, and we can control the amount of medication you receive.
